Producer of exotic plants and chillies, spicy products and hot sauces
Tucked away in Lantau, in rural Hong Kong, Hong Kong Chilli Papa grows exotic chilli plants from seed, finding the perfect balance of sun, water and nutrients to produce healthy, tasty chillies. Leaning into his training and 10 years experience working as a chef in London, he has been creating and fine tuning his range of hot sauces and other chilli products.
Our chillies
Our organic chillies come from our farm on the roof. Grown and matured year-round under the sub-tropical sun, they are picked and ripened on a window sill for a day. We grow a variety of species, types, colours and heat levels. Exotic fresh chillies like these are not available anywhere else in Hong Kong.
Plants and seeds
Our chilli plants are all grown organically from seed in Hong Kong’s sub-tropical climate in rural Lantau Island. After germination they spend the first few weeks outside on a south facing balcony. Then they move up to the roof, where they flower and are pollinated by wild bees, wasps and even the wind. Fed on seaweed extract and bokashi tea, and given the occasional dose of Epsom salts for magnesium sulphate, they soak up the sun and the rain. Protection against pests is taken care of by ladybirds, and the odd spray of all-natural neem oil.
